I think this will be the last of my pretty fall photos! While it’s been an unseasonably warm fall, we lucked out big-time with long-lasting fall foliage, and I managed to photograph several outfits this year in front of the pretty trees. Colorado is generally known for its golden aspen leaves (unlike the deep reds and oranges of the Pacific Northwest where I’m originally from), but this year the trees really lived up to the Colorful Colorado moniker—yellows, oranges, fiery reds, maroons. I’m sad to see them go today with the first snowfall, but it wouldn’t really feel like my birthday month unless everything was brown and dead.

What’s New?
- October was a busy month of travel! I went home to Boise for a weekend to celebrate my friend’s bridal shower and bachelorette, and then my mom and I went on a road trip through four new-to-me states in the southeast—Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. It was a whirlwind but so much fun! That puts my state count at 37.
- Instead of going out this year for Halloween my friends and I got together and filmed a horror short. It was a blast and exercised a type of creativity I haven’t used in a long time. They were only posted on TikTok (I star as the horror girl!) but here’s Part 1 and Part 2.
- I finally finished posting my Creepy AI Impersonator Series on both Instagram and TikTok. If you don’t follow me on social media, somebody has been stealing my photos and reposting them on their Instagram account with an AI-generated face—my outfits, my body, but a different face! It’s so creepy. I reported the account but sadly it hasn’t been taken down yet.
- You may have noticed I haven’t been sharing the “Favorite Outfits from X Month” in my last couple of monthly recaps. That’s because my new website design messes up galleries (two images displayed side-by-side) which is something I keep forgetting to fix! Maybe I’ll get my crap together by next month’s blog post…

Today’s Outfit
I photographed this outfit back in September when my aunt and I snuck away to the mountains for a day to see the leaves turning. I’ve seen a lot of girls this fall wearing cardigans as tops (something I’ve never done before) and charm necklaces. I broke out this maroon polka dot cardigan, a piece I haven’t worn in years that just so happens to be the perfect color for fall. I don’t have any short charm necklaces, so I decided to wear this mismatched pearl necklace instead, which I think is a similar vibe. I’m still not sure how I feel about the jeans with the rest of the look, but I love the cardigan as a top and need to remember to reach for my cardigans more often this season!

What I Watched
- And Then There Were None—I first saw this miniseries years ago, but my boyfriend only just read And Then There Were None (how?!) so I rewatched it with him. He said the show changes some seemingly unnecessary pieces from the book, but as someone who hasn’t read it in years, I think the show is a pretty good adaptation.
- Sweet Home Alabama—I don’t think I had ever seen this movie start to finish but my mom and I watched it for a fun night-in while staying in Birmingham on our road trip. It doesn’t make a ton of sense, but I liked the romance more than a lot of other rom-coms.
- Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil—Another themed watch while we were in Savannah, since this movie is based on a true story (and book) that took place there! We had to watch the movie in a couple of parts which made it feel a little disjointed, but overall I think it was an interesting story. I am going to read the book next as I’m sure it goes into a lot more detail about the real people and events.
- Beetlejuice—I had never seen this classic, and with the release of the second one I knew I wanted to watch it this year. It was entertaining but not something I would need to watch again. Also I was surprised that parts of it were kind of inappropriate? Not a problem at all just not what I expected, either.
- The Thing—Another classic horror film from the 80s. I really liked this one! Not so scary that I couldn’t sleep but still entertaining.
- Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story—Just like the Jeffrey Dahmer Monsters series, this one was uncomfortable to watch—and shockingly graphic. I didn’t know that much about the case before so I thought it was a good binge if you’re into true crime.
- The Menendez Brothers—Of course, afterwards, I had to watch the documentary to see how much of Monsters was fictionalized. I would say the series put the brothers in a bad light whereas the documentary sided with them a little more. I don’t think the documentary would have made as much sense without watching the series first, though.
What I Read
- The Boys in the Boat—It took me forever to get through this one. I first rented it from the library in the beginning of the year, but because of the release of the movie and its popularity I couldn’t renew it. It wasn’t until summer that I borrowed my mom’s copy, and it’s taken me since then to finish it… I would say that the story was really good, and the mechanics of the writing were good, but it was just too long for me. I thought the middle was really boring… I can only read about so many crew races…
October Spotify Playlist
This month’s playlist has some new songs I heard during the bachelorette weekend, some old favorites, and a lot of themed songs from my mom’s and my road trip. We made our own list of any song we could think of that mentioned or had to do with the four states that we visited, which was really fun! And then I added only the ones I would actually want to listen to to my monthly playlist. Now anytime I listed to October 2024 I’ll be transported back to that trip.

What I’ve Been Loving Lately
- My cowgirl boots. I mentioned in this packing Reel that I tentatively brought my boots on my road trip, not sure how comfortable they would be, but I ended up wearing them every single day of the trip! I guess it just took 20-some wears to finally break them in.
- Frantically working on my boyfriend’s and my Halloween costumes reminded me how much I love to craft. As much as I enjoy my blog, I sacrificed a lot of other hobbies to make the time for Grace Per Wear. At some point I would like to find a better balance between my competing interests. Expanding my sewing skills, finally finishing my college scrapbook, making Christmas decorations, learning embroidery… These are all things on my list that I just don’t have the time for right now. I’ve been scaling back my blog in certain ways this year and I think I plan to make more cuts in 2025 to make room for some of these other interests.
What I’m Looking Forward to in November
- My 25th birthday is this weekend and I’m starting to get really excited! My family has been planning a surprise so I can’t wait to see what we get up to and to spend a long weekend relaxing with the fam.
- I’ll be going back to Boise at the end of the month for both Thanksgiving and to be a bridesmaid in one of my best high school friend’s wedding. We’ve known each other since we were about 12 so it’s crazy and so special to get to be a part of her big day.
