Weekly Recap #43, 2024

Today’s weekly recap features the rest of my road trip outfits and a couple of sweater weather looks. While I love traveling in October because of the weather and limited crowds, I think I’ve realized that vacations this time of year make Spooky Season go by way too fast. Two years in a row now I have scrambled to get my costume done on time and have had to cram all the fall activities into a single weekend. It can be done, but I’ll have to consider the tradeoff when planning for 2025… It might be nice to have a few lazy weekends at home in October for fall hikes and to take my time on my costumes.

This is probably my favorite outfit I wore on my trip—I’ve had the idea of pairing this dress with my cowgirl boots for a while now and I just love how it turned out. We spent today exploring Savannah and did a historical/ghost walking tour in the evening.

We leisurely explored Bonaventure Cemetery this morning before heading to the airport and flying home. It was such a great trip! I tried really hard not to overpack this time and I think I did a good job—I wore pretty much everything, and this was the last outfit in my suitcase.

Green Top: JCPenney, $16 ($1.45 per wear), last worn here | Skinny Jeans: Express, $42 ($0.51 per wear), last worn here | Cowgirl Boots: Ariat via Boot Barn, $180 ($6.92 per wear), last worn here

I would have preferred to work from home today so I could catch up on laundry and whatnot, but it was one of my favorite coworker’s last day in the office. I was pretty tired so I just threw on this simple sweater and jeans combo for the day.

Sweater: Sundance Outlet, $45 ($2.65 per wear), last worn here | Grey Jeans: Express, $19 ($0.30 per wear), last worn here | Blue Booties: White Mountain via DSW, $42 ($0.69 per wear), last worn here

Thursday, October 24

I’ve been wearing this outfit since at least 2017 (I know it exists somewhere on the blog) and it’s still a go-to for work, though the pants fit a little snugger now… I love the pop of blue in the flats! My boyfriend and I carved pumpkins tonight, and I decided to carve Bird Girl, which is the statue on the cover of the book Midnight in the Garden of Good Evil (based on a true story and takes place in Savannah).

Sweater: 525 America via Scout and Molly Boutique, $89 ($4.68 per wear), last worn here | Houndstooth Pants: JCPenney, $19 ($0.70 per wear), last worn here | Blue Flats: DSW, $5 ($0.14 per wear), last worn here

After work today, a group of friends and I went out to Korean BBQ (my first time! It’s all you can eat and you cook the meat at your table) and then we went to one of their houses to film a horror film short… It was SO much fun! My boyfriend and I didn’t plan a Halloween party this year due to low turnout last year and all the travel, but filming a little horror video was a really fun and unique alternative. We’re still in the editing phase but I’m sure I’ll share it soon!

Sweater: Hand-me-down, last worn here | Grey Jeans: Express, $24 ($1.85 per wear) | Black Booties: Vivaia, gifted for collaboration, $140 ($2.37 per wear), last worn here

Saturday, October 26

We squeezed in our final fall date today, which was our annual picnic. Most of my clothes are still dirty from my trip so I just threw on this plain beige sweater and jeans for something comfy and warm enough to sit on the ground in. Afterwards we watched The Thing, a classic horror movie that neither of us had seen before (and thankfully wasn’t that scary!).

Sweater: Nordstrom Rack, $18 ($0.30 per wear), last worn here | Cropped Flared Jeans: Express, $40 ($0.51 per wear), last worn here | Taupe Booties: Shop LC, gifted for collaboration, $80 ($2.58 per wear), last worn here

Sunday, October 27

I spent today hand-sewing our couples Halloween costumes, which I would have preferred to finish already but is taking a really long time. We’ll just wear it on Thursday since we didn’t go out this weekend, and I’ll post photos then!

. . . . .

Which of this week’s looks is your favorite? Did you have any fun Halloween plans this weekend?

Miles of smiles,
Grace
