I have been eating up all the Halloween content that’s already all over TikTok. I can’t get enough of DIY costumes and the insane makeup transitions! I haven’t given any thought to my own costume yet, so it definitely won’t be anything that extravagant (so I say—knowing me I’ll start making an intricate costume two days before). Last year I created my costumes based on dresses I hadn’t worn yet in 2025, which was a good idea but… limiting. I’m not sure I want to do that again this year.

What’s New?
- I spent last weekend in Las Vegas celebrating my grandpa’s 94th birthday. It was so nice seeing all my family and getting to spend time with him. My cousin’s 40th birthday is also coming up, so my mom had the great idea that I should make a tear-away happy birthday banner that would swap the birthday numbers and names for each person. I didn’t know how to successfully make it “tear-away,” so instead I made a banner that said “Happy 94th Birthday Grandpa!” and taped on additional pieces to change it to “Happy 40th Birthday Ross!” when the time came. It was very fun to make and turned out to be a big hit.
- My boyfriend and I celebrated five years together in September. He had some restaurant credits through his credit card so we went to downtown Denver for the night, starting with cocktails at one place and moving onto a sushi restaurant for dinner. The food was delish (especially their fried rice roll) and I’m already dreaming of going back. I wore this dress for the occasion and got so many compliments—two girls even slowed down in their car and rolled down their window to tell me how much they loved my dress!

Today’s Outfit
I styled this outfit last fall in a video, but I don’t think I ever got the chance to wear it out. It was so cute in the Reel, though I have to admit that it was kind of difficult to photograph! I’m not sure if I should take that to mean it’s not flattering, or if it’s just how the skirt lays without any movement… I don’t love where that big black strip of fabric sits on my leg. I wish I had pulled the skirt a little higher on my waist and carried a different purse (the bag gets lost in so much black). But alas, I still think adding the denim jacket and leaning into the black was a good idea to make the summery skirt more appropriate for fall.

Favorite Outfits from September
- I’ve featured this outfit in a couple of videos now and I’m obsessed!! I felt so chic and trendy in my wide-leg jeans and a classic white top. Even though the (faux) Valentino Rockstuds are wayyy out of style, I still love this snakeskin pair. They always make me feel like a million bucks. And, dare I say, I think the neutral colors of the snakeskin make them a little more evergreen since the hardware blends in more than, say, one of the black patent pairs that were so popular in 2016.
- I wore this outfit to a local festival on an 80+ degree “fall” day and got so many compliments. The top is part of a hand-me-down set and the jeans I’ve had for years. The blouse, heels, and purse were all items I hadn’t worn yet in 2026. The ladybug purse really makes the outfit pop!

What I Watched
- Fight Club—What a crazy movie! I had never seen it before and thankfully managed to avoid spoilers all this time. It was so different than I thought it was going to be, but I really enjoyed it. Will definitely need to rewatch Fight Club at some point.
- Dark Matter—This show was so boring that I couldn’t finish it! I rarely don’t finish shows… I liked the book but for whatever reason could not get on board with the TV adaptation.
What I Read
- To Sir Philip, With Love by Julia Quinn—This was the first Bridgerton book post-Lady Whistledown reveal. I was curious if the show followed the books in terms of timing of the reveal, and it did follow the novels pretty closely. I realized while listening to To Sir Philip that the reason all of these books feel so same-y to me is because they really have very little plot. I’m getting more into romance, but I’m realizing I need more story to properly enjoy it. I’ll continue to listen to the series though because I like the TV show and want to be able to compare.
- The Hidden Girl by Lucinda Riley—I could not put this book down. I’m torn on what to rate it on Goodreads though because while I personally enjoyed it, I’m not sure it was an objectively well-written book. There were several continuity-type errors and the plot was all over the place, exploring what felt like every theme under the sun. Even though I predicted several of the twists, there were still a few that caught me by surprise, and like I said, I couldn’t stop reading by the end!
September Spotify Playlist
A small but mighty playlist this month, with almost entirely new-to-me songs! I also rediscovered “How You’ve Grown” by 10,000 Maniacs and have not been able to stop listening to it.

Percent Worn Update
I’m still at 91% of my total closet worn so far in 2026—I didn’t move up at all from last week and only wore two “new” items in the past seven days. I have 43 items left to wear, and there are 88 days left in 2026. I’m in a good spot but don’t want to get too comfortable!
What I’m Looking Forward to in October
I’ve been having a hard time getting into the “fall” mood since it’s still been so hot, but I need to get over that before the season passes me by! It’s on my to-do list to schedule all my usual fall date nights/activities, including the pumpkin patch, some sort of haunted house/experience, a picnic, and a pumpkin carving movie night. I’m so excited that Halloween is on a Saturday this year and hope to do something on both Friday and Saturday (double the costumes, duh)—but haven’t decided on anything yet.
My friend is also visiting this month to celebrate my birthday early. She texted me this morning that I need to plan some outfits for six different themes, so I can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve!

Do you know what you’re dressing as for Halloween yet? I want to make a lot of decorations for my new place this year, but I feel like I’m already behind! By the time I finish everything the holiday will have probably already come and gone… I at least already bought the fabric for my next round of placemats, so I can start working on those next weekend.
Miles of smiles,
Grace
