Happy Labor Day weekend! I hope you’re doing something fun to celebrate the extra day off. I’m watching my brother’s kitties this week and my boyfriend is out of town, so it’s just me getting crafty (and being way too productive). I can’t say it’s the Labor Day weekend of my dreams but at least my to-do list will be empty.
What’s New?
- As I mentioned in my last post, I cut a lot of length off my hair and have been absolutely loving the change!
- I spent a weekend in Grand Junction visiting my friend. We went to this cosplay event downtown—which is why I spent hours making a costume of Merryweather the fairy from Sleeping Beauty, using one of my hardest-to-wear dresses. The event turned out to be lame and we left within 20 minutes, but at least the costume turned out!
- My parents visited for a weekend and I hosted a big brunch with my brother, sister-in-law, aunt, uncle, and cousin. I sewed placemats and a runner for the perfect summer tablescape. It turned out so cute—pictures to come!
Today’s Outfit
I took these photos back in June when my mom and I were in Mystic, Connecticut. The cute crab purse was my souvenir, which I got at the Mystic Aquarium. I thought the navy blue gingham and red was perfect for summer’s send-off. The blue sea glass earrings and shell anklet were the cutest accessories to finish the look. I so wish I was on the water this weekend!

Percent Worn Update
At the time I’m writing this I’ve made it to 87% of my closet worn so far in 2026! I took a break from my percent worn in August—not a break from tracking it, just a break from obsessing over it constantly. I was focusing so much on trying to wear “new” things every day that it was taking some of the joy out of getting dressed. It’s back to all fun though, and I’m still making progress toward my goal of 100%—just more slowly.
Favorite Outfits from August
- As cute as the navy polka dot dress is, it’s kind of dead to me. It was expensive but the material is so cheap! It snags on everything and is covered in splotches of miscolored fabric now (the worst of it on the right of my chest) even though I’ve only worn it 3 times. Not worth the money and very disappointing.
- I love the paperbag shorts paired with black. The hair scarf was something I hadn’t worn yet this year and was a cute accessory when my hair was still long.
What I Watched
- Voicemails for Isabelle—Since everyone was talking about this movie I decided to give it a watch while I was scrapbooking. Very cute! Typical cheesy rom-com.
- Obsession—I’m not really one for horror movies. I thought this was good (very freaky but not hard to spook me), though it did seem overhyped. I had to sleep with the light on for a couple of days…
- All Her Fault—I wanted to like this show but there were just too many things that didn’t make sense. Apparently it’s based off a book though and I am intrigued enough by the story to see if the book is any better.
- The Truman Show—I had heard of this movie but never knew what it was about. I’m not a fan of most Jim Carrey things, but this movie was SO interesting. Left me with a lot to contemplate.
- Top Gun: Maverick—Somehow it took me this long to finally see the second one, and sure enough, it was better than the first. Just a fun (albeit sometimes silly) action film!
- Lessons in Chemistry—I liked this book but the show was SO bad. I can’t believe it was rated so highly on IMDB. There were several weird stylistic choices and many inconsistencies in the characters. I was disappointed.
What I Read
- Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn—This is the book about Penelope’s story and just like the show, it was the worst of the books I’ve read so far. I can’t put my finger on why, maybe I just don’t like Penelope’s or Colin’s characters that much.
- The Emerald Mile: The Epic Story of the Fastest Ride in History Through the Heart of the Grand Canyon by Kevin Fedarko—This was our book club book for July and August because it took us a while to get through. The beginning was SO dense—not boring, just hard to read more than a couple of pages at a time—but I did really enjoy it. It’s the true story about three men who road a wooden dory through the Grand Canyon during a period of intense flooding. Very interesting! Would recommend if you like non-fiction adventure stories.

This month’s playlist has a lot of Zach Bryan since I saw him in concert earlier in the month, as well as the fun color-themed songs that I’ve been including in my closet clean-out videos.
What I’m Looking Forward to in September
I don’t have that many plans in September, which I’m really looking forward to after a busy summer. My boyfriend and I will be celebrating five years together so we’re going out to a nice restaurant. I’m excited to dress up! And then at the end of the month I’m going to Las Vegas for my grandpa’s 94th birthday party.

What are you looking forward to in September? Are you already in fall mode or still enjoying summer? Don’t get me wrong, I love fall as much as the next basic white bitch… but it’s still a bit early for me to go full Halloween and pumpkin spice.
