Weekly Recap #51, 2024

I started working on some of my year-end blog and social media posts last week and realized just how many not cute outfits I share in my weekly recaps. I like to try new outfit combos, and that means they can’t all be winners (plus, there are days where I just can’t be bothered when getting dressed). So it’s always amusing to look back at certain old outfits and feel like, “What the heck was I thinking?” This week my goal was to create all winning outfits, but I a) quickly forgot about the goal and b) think the outfits turned out just okay. I say it again: they can’t all be winners.

white blouse thrifted yellow printed pants clara sunwoo black jacket fair trade winter outfit

Monday, December 16

This was a new outfit combo for me and I think I like how it turned out. I wanted to see if I could style these printed yellow pants for winter, so I paired them with a white blouse, a heavier black coat, and my black sock booties. I think it works for a warmer winter day!

White Blouse: Thrifted, $12 ($0.92 per wear), last worn here | Black Coat: Fair trade boutique, $120 ($5.22 per wear) | Pants: Clara Sunwoo, gifted for collaboration, $135 ($45 per wear), last worn here | Black Booties: Vivaia, gifted for collaboration, $140 ($2.26 per wear), last worn here

I got drinks with my old professor today and he asked if I was going to a biker bar afterwards, ha! I guess this outfit and the jacket in particular is pretty casual for work, but as I’ve mentioned before, our office is very casual. I really liked the jacket paired with my new boots from JustFab.

Teal Top: JCPenney, $11 ($0.44 per wear), last worn here | Jacket: Blank NYC from local boutique, $25 ($0.35 per wear), last worn here | Grey Jeans: Express, $19 ($0.28 per wear), last worn here | Black Boots: JustFab, gifted for collaboration, $45 ($0.75 per wear)

Wednesday, December 18

I guess in my attempt to wear all winning outfits it felt like cheating to wear an old go-to, but I haven’t worn this dress at all yet this winter. It’s super old from Nordstrom Rack and one of my absolute favorites. It will always be a winner in my book!

Dress: Nordstrom Rack, $40 ($1.48 per wear), last worn here | Tights: Primark, $5 ($0.56 per wear), last worn here | Black Knee Boots: Clarks via DSW, $100 ($0.72 per wear), last worn here

Thursday, December 19

I really wanted to wear this suede fringe jacket today because I got it for Christmas last year and have only worn it once since (gasp!). It’s a little over-the-top for a casual Thursday working from home, so I tried to dress it down with my old Levi’s—but I’m not sure I love the combo. I still think the jacket would be so stinking cute dressed up for a date night, I just haven’t had the right occasion yet!

Striped Tee: Down East, $18 ($0.44 per wear), last worn here | Fringe Jacket: Portland Leather, $200 ($100 per wear) | Jeans: Levi’s, $40 ($0.77 per wear), last worn here | Taupe Booties: Shop LC, gifted for collaboration, $80 ($2.11 per wear), last worn here

Friday, December 20

It was a busy day running around before flying back to Boise in the evening after work—not the best travel day unfortunately, but not as bad as my last travel day (where I was delayed 4.5 hours). Today’s outfit was just a result of packing—I wanted to bring these boots and jeans, and I landed on the tee because it was long sleeve but not so thick (like a sweater) that it would take up a lot of space on the trip home.

Tee: Hand-me-down | Jeans: Express, $15 ($0.30 per wear), last worn here | Taupe Booties: Shop LC, gifted for collaboration, $80 ($2.11 per wear), last worn here

pink ribbed sweater old navy plaid blanket scarf grey ripped jeans express red kate spade purse

Saturday, December 21

I photographed all the outfits I packed before leaving Denver, but I have to admit I didn’t end up wearing the blanket scarf today (and I wore my black booties instead). I was trying a new combo with the pink and red scarf for something festive, but I’m not sure I actually like them together. I grabbed lunch with a high school friend today and didn’t want my scarf to smell like food, which is why I opted not to wear it. What do you think, cute combo or do they clash?

Pink Sweater: Old Navy, $19 ($3.17 per wear) | Grey Jeans: Express, $24 ($1.41 per wear) | Black Booties: Vivaia, gifted for collaboration, $140 ($2.22 per wear), last worn here | Red Purse: Kate Spade, gift, $200 ($8.00 per wear), last worn here

Sunday, December 22

Another outfit incorrectly photographed—I ended up breaking in the Manolo-inspired heels I bought in the fall at TJ Maxx (featured in this Reel). They were the perfect way to finish the look, much better than the boots. In the evening my mom surprised us with a show called A Frim Fram Christmas at the Sapphire Room. It was so much fun! We got drinks and listened to a group of four guys play Christmas songs in a jazz-y type style. There were also special guests, and at the very end a high school choir came to sing Carol of the Bells—their performance was incredible and I can’t stop thinking about it. This outfit was the perfect amount of dressed up for the occasion!

Blouse: Thrifted, $11 ($1.83 per wear), last worn here | Plaid Jacket: Cabi, $120 ($12.00 per wear), last worn here | Jeans: Express, $25 ($0.44 per wear), last worn here | Heels: TJ Maxx, $30 ($30 per wear) | Navy Pearl Purse: Kate Spade, $110 ($36.67 per wear)

. . . . .

Which of this week’s outfits is your favorite? And do you have any fun holiday traditions you look forward to every year? If you looked closely you may have noticed this week’s cover photo is old—from two years ago. My boyfriend and I went to the Christkindlmarket in Denver two years in a row. It’s a fun event to get into the holiday spirit, but we decided we didn’t need to go a third year in a row.

Miles of smiles,
Grace

  1. This week’s outfits are winners!! I donlike the one with the chunky scarf a lot and your travel day one too! I’ve been wearing a lot of my more festive tops lately because I know I’ll wear them less next month.
