I’ve been suffering a bit from the post-birthday blues these past two days, but I had the absolute best weekend with my family celebrating my 25th! My parents came to town and surprised me with a weekend at a VRBO in Fort Collins, with my brother, sister-in-law, and boyfriend. The six of us had so much fun playing lots of games and just enjoying each other’s company. I’ve always thought of my birthday as a fall birthday, but since moving to Colorado it has snowed more times than not—it really felt like winter this year with a record-breaking snowstorm!

Monday, November 4
I don’t normally go into the office on Mondays but decided to today since I knew the weather would be crappy later in the week. Pink and green are my two favorite colors, so I love this sweater weather outfit, one that I’ve worn several times before.

Tuesday, November 5
I love how simple yet put-together this outfit feels—the chartreuse and grey just go so well together. I got this sweater last year for my birthday so kind of interesting to see that I’ve worn it six times in the past year (feels like it should be more).

Wednesday, November 6
I’m not crazy about today’s outfit. Something about the pants just seem to clash with everything else. I rolled them up once to make the length a little shorter to pair with the white mules, but even still, I just don’t think the pants work with the other pieces. At least it was comfy for a work-from-home day.
Sweater: Gap, $16 ($0.62 per wear), last worn here | Pants: Clara Sunwoo, gifted for collaboration, $98 ($9.80 per wear) | White Mules: Rebecca Minkoff via Saks Off Fifth, $70 ($1.46 per wear), last worn here

Thursday, November 7
It snowed all day (some of my coworkers said they had at least a foot!) so I think pretty much everyone worked from home today. I didn’t leave the house at all—which means I didn’t end up getting dressed!

Friday, November 8
I took today off work and spent the morning with my parents, before we grabbed my boyfriend and drove to Fort Collins. Our VRBO house was awesome and such a comfortable space for the six of us. It felt like proper winter today, so it was the first time I broke out the heavy layers—thick sweater, quilted vest, puffy coat. I probably would have worn a beanie with this outfit if not for my freshly pierced ears.
After dinner and after my brother and sister-in-law arrived, we all went to a swing dancing lesson in the basement of a Masonic temple. My boyfriend and I love to swing dance and both did it in college, but I recognize it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, especially dancing with strangers… My family were such troopers getting out there on the dancefloor!
Sweater: Nordstrom Rack, $18 ($0.30 per wear), last worn here | Vest: Francesca’s, $45 ($1.18 per wear), last worn here | Grey Jeans: Express, $19 ($0.30 per wear), last worn here | Black Booties: Vivaia, gifted for collaboration, $140 ($2.33 per wear), last worn here

Saturday, November 9
I started my birthday with pancakes in bed, as is family tradition. We wandered around downtown Fort Collins for a bit and toured a unique Dia de Los Muertos exhibit, followed by games back at the house. This wasn’t my first choice of a birthday outfit, but I decided to dress warm and practical—and think the faux fur vest is a fun birthday addition.

Saturday, November 9, Continued
We changed and went out to dinner for a nice meal at an Italian restaurant. There are only so many times I get to break out this sparkly jacket, so of course I took advantage! Nothing screams “it’s my birthday” like red sequins. I kept the rest of the look simple to really let the jacket shine.
Sequin Jacket: White House Black Market, $100 ($33.33 per wear), last worn here | Black Skinny Jeans: Express, $42 ($0.78 per wear), last worn here | Black Boots: Clarks via DSW, $100 ($0.74 per wear), last worn here | Furry Purse: Thrifted, $6 ($1.00 per wear), last worn here

Sunday, November 10
We packed up the VRBO and drove back to Denver, where we all had a sleepy Sunday afternoon. Since we didn’t really go anywhere and I wasn’t trying to impress anyone, I just wore this lackluster sweater and skinny jeans combo.

Which of this week’s outfits is your favorite? Do you have go-to birthday outfit criteria or do you switch it up every year? I really wanted to wear my suede fringe jacket but the weather had different plans! And that’s okay, I think the fur vest was a fun alternative.
Miles of smiles,
Grace
