Weekly Recap #18, 2024

Han Solo costume, Princess Leia costume, Luke Skywalker costume

There were just too many celebrations this weekend, between Derby Day, Star Wars Day, and Cinco de Mayo. Since I attended the Denver Mini Derby again this year on Saturday, I didn’t have an opportunity to dress up for May the Fourth Be with You—so I’ll just leave you with this iconic photo of my parents and me circa 2020. Because, in Covid times, you just had a whole day to waste coming up with costumes from items around the house (Luke’s “lightsaber” is a squirt gun and Hans’ weapon is a vacuum attachment).

Monday, April 29

I worked from my aunt’s house today so I could spend time with my dad, who was still in town, and then we played tennis in the afternoon. I threw on this new(ish) floral dress from Old Navy, and instead of styling it with my regular denim jacket (which was in the dirty clothes hamper), I decided to pair it with my black one. I think it was a fun way to give the dress a different vibe.

Dress: Old Navy, $14 ($7.00 per wear) | Black Denim Jacket: Nordstrom, $55 ($1.77 per wear), last worn here | White Espadrilles: DSW, $45 ($0.44 per wear), last worn here

Tuesday, April 30

This super cute jumpsuit was sent to me last summer by Clara Sunwoo, and I decided to dress it down today with that same black denim jacket and sandals—I love how it turned out. After work, I hung out with my dad and cousin again, playing Around the World outside (haven’t played the basketball game in years) and grabbing dinner together.

Jumpsuit: Clara Sunwoo, gifted by brand, $179 ($89.50 per wear), last worn here | Black Denim Jacket: Nordstrom, $55 ($1.72 per wear), last worn here | Black Sandals: Macy’s, $28 ($0.80 per wear), last worn here

striped sweater polka dot pants work outfit black rothys

Wednesday, May 1

This is one of my go-to work outfits when I’m running late or just don’t want to put thought into what I’m wearing. Normally I would pair it with some sort of pendant necklace, but I opted for a shorter pearl piece today instead—not sure how I feel about it.

Sweater: Gap, $16 ($0.64 per wear), last worn here | Polka Dot Pants: JCPenney, $19 ($0.66 per wear), last worn here | Black Flats: Rothy’s, $100 ($5.56 per wear)

Thursday, May 2

I worked from home today and just threw on a simple sweater and pants combo—boring and not very spring-like at all, though I do absolutely love pink and green together.

Sweater: JCPenney, $18 ($0.28 per wear), last worn here | Pants: JCPenney, $35 ($1.17 per wear), last worn here | Booties: Shop LC, gifted by brand, $80 ($2.96 per wear), last worn here

golf dress tennis blue print amazon fashion golfing outfit

Friday, May 3

After work, my older cousin invited me to a par 3 golf course with him, which was so much fun—I’ve never done a 9-hole course before but it clearly worked for me, as it was the best golf I’ve ever played. Although, maybe I have the outfit to thank for that… I now have this Amazon dress in two prints (it comes with matching shorts underneath) and I absolutely love it. I will say, though, it’s much more comfortable for golf and other low-impact activities than it is for tennis. I don’t track cost per wear for my athletic clothes, but you can buy the dress here and my rose gold and grey golf shoes here.

Saturday, May 4

Denver Mini Derby day!! I ended up going with this outfit, which is the one that received the most votes on my Reel, even though I was nervous that it would be uncomfortable all day due to the short length. I won’t get too much into the outfit and the event, as I’ll be sharing a full recap post later, but it was a ton of fun.

Dress: Marshall’s, $22 ($22 per wear) | Orange Wedges: Thrifted, $13 ($4.33 per wear), last worn here | Green Fascinator: Borrowed from my aunt | Black Sunglasses: Charming Charlie, $7 ($0.19 per wear), last worn here | Orange Clutch: Airport gift store, $40 ($2.50 per wear), last worn here

. . . . .

Sunday, May 5

I had a lovely lazy morning in bed finishing my book before spending the rest of the day knocking off various items from my to-do list. I just stayed in athletic clothes all day, but in the afternoon my boyfriend and I made frozen margaritas and guac for Cinco de Mayo. I also made horchata-flavored brownies, which ended up so yummy! They were super simple too—I just used my favorite GF brownie mix and added 1 tablespoon vanilla, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, and ¼ teaspoon chili powder. Mm-mmm!

. . . . .

It’s not even worth asking which outfit was your favorite this week since Saturday’s look was so fun. I think the green pendant necklace really pulled it all together! As always, thanks for stopping by the blog today.

Miles of smiles,
Grace
