I didn’t have a good cover photo for this week’s recap, so I exported a frame from my most recent Reel—slightly more casual holiday outfit ideas if you don’t have a party to go to, like me! I love the bold red top from Clara Sunwoo and tried a new lip combo (dabbed red lipstick on and topped it with red lip gloss) that I think turned out super festive. The only other big news this week is that I got the Wordle in one on Tuesday! Finally! I’ve been using “patio” as my starter word for over a year waiting for this moment and was very excited that it finally paid off.

I have a goal before the end of the year to go through everything in my apartment, reorganize a couple of areas, and get rid of anything I don’t use anymore. During the process I found the box of clothes I was trying to sell over the summer. You may recall I did a Reel about my experience with Poshmark—I haven’t received a single offer and am honestly kind of over it. I’d rather just donate everything at this point.
BUT I bring this up because I found this sweater dress at the top of my sell/donate pile. It was tempting me for weeks so finally I decided to give it another try. And I instantly remembered why I planned to get rid of it in the first place—it is SO staticy! I love it, and wish I could make it work (especially because the cost per wear is still pretty high), but I couldn’t stand wearing it all day.
Somebody reached out on Instagram and told me a trick to reduce static cling is attaching safety pins on the inside to catch the free electrons. I’ve never heard of that method before and might give the dress one last try… but I don’t have high hopes.

I can’t quite articulate why but I don’t like this outfit—something just seems off about it. The sweater is casual, but the pants and flats feel a little dressier. I tried on several pairs of shoes with this look and didn’t love any of them, though I ultimately landed on these black flats. Oh well, not every new outfit combo works out!

This outfit screams “college girl” to me. Probably because of the skinny jeans, which I know aren’t cool anymore, but I’m not going to get rid of a perfectly good pair of jeans just because they aren’t trendy right now! With a pair of straight legs or other looser-fitting jean I think this outfit would be right on target.
I absolutely love these off-white Chelsea boots, but unfortunately they kill my feet. I think the right one (only the right one) is too small, and both leave blisters on my heels whenever I wear them. They were expensive though and I love them so much! After discovering that it took upwards of 12 wears to finally break in my cowgirl boots, I’m holding out hope that a couple more wears might finally break these babies in… (I’m at seven right now.)

Thursday, December 12
I woke up feeling incredibly lazy, so I had no intention of trying to look cute today. But then somehow I landed on this ‘fit and love how it turned out! It’s very “2010s fashion blogger” but I don’t have a problem with that.

I didn’t leave the house today, but I had my brother and sister-in-law over in the evening to make Christmas cookies and watch Love Actually. I wanted something simple and comfy but also cute—and this outfit fit the bill. I didn’t actually wear the boots since I didn’t leave the apartment, but these Express mid-calf boots are what I would have paired with the look had I left. I also think my suede fringe jacket would look amazing with this!

I had a busy content day before heading to a friend’s place for her housewarming party. I recently got these black loafers from JustFab for a collaboration, which are admittedly out of my comfort zone, but since they’re black I figured they’d go with a lot. Not so! I’ve actually really been struggling with how to style them. I wasn’t sure about this outfit at first, but by the end of the night I really loved it (I don’t feel like it shows up as cute photographed as it was in person). The plaid jacket is kind of festive for this time of year, and I wore my new navy pearl Kate Spade purse I got for my birthday (hopefully coming to the blog soon so you can see it!).

Sunday, December 15
My brother, sister-in-law, and I went to Tuba Christmas this morning, which is a free concert that lots of cities have where a bunch of local tuba players get together and play Christmas songs. It was an outdoor event, so I wanted to dress warmly! This outfit is very plain but I figured it would be covered by my coat anyway. It ended up being quite warm, but I wish I had worn a hat to protect my scalp from the sun.
