Weekly Recap #44, 2024

The big news this week is that I finally got my ears pierced, after (nearly) 25 years! I knew I wanted to do something special to celebrate my birthday early so my sister-in-law and I got pierced together on Saturday. I was shocked by how little it hurt, and even now I don’t even feel them—I just feel tired because it was hard not to sleep on my side last night. It will be a long time before I can start wearing other earrings, but I’m excited to wear the few pairs from my grandma I already have and to start building my own collection!

Monday, October 28

This is a fancy outfit for work-from-home, but I needed to photograph it for Wednesday’s blog post and decided it didn’t make sense to change into something else for the day. After work and taking photos, I stayed up way too late working on our couples Halloween costumes.

White Crop Top: American Eagle, $8 ($0.89 per wear), last worn here | Cardigan: Gift, last worn here | Skirt: Francesca’s, $25 ($6.25 per wear), last worn here | Boots: Clarks via DSW, $100 ($0.75 per wear), last worn here | Socks: Gift, $15 ($0.75 per wear), last worn here

Tuesday, October 29

I’ve worn this outfit before, but I need to remember next time that I don’t actually like it very much. I paired the olive green pants with the sweater because of the olive green in the embroidery on the sleeves, but I just don’t love the combo (and realized it could be kind of Christmas-y).

Sweater: Francesca’s, $45 ($1.61 per wear), last worn here | Pants: JCPenney, $35 ($1.13 per wear), last worn here | Booties: Shop LC, gifted for collaboration, $80 ($2.50 per wear), last worn here

Wednesday, October 30

I couldn’t decide this morning how I felt about the boots with the rest of the outfit, but after wearing it all day I decided the cowgirl boots are in fact a weird vibe with the blazer. The only reason I reached for them was because I wanted to wear these black skinny jeans—but of course you can’t wear skinny jeans these days unless you pair them will tall boots. Even though my black knee boots would’ve been a lot of black on the bottom half, I think they would have been a better option than the cowgirl boots. I absolutely loved the sweater/blazer combo, though!

Sweater: Clara Sunwoo, gifted for collaboration, $149 ($12.42 per wear), last worn here | Blazer: Clara Sunwoo, gifted for collaboration, $215 ($53.75 per wear), last worn here | Black Skinny Jeans: Express, $42 ($0.79 per wear), last worn here | Boots: Ariat via Boot Barn, $180 ($6.67 per wear), last worn here

Thursday, October 31

I worked on these costumes until the very last second, but thankfully I finished just in time to snap some pics outside before the sun went down. I had some friends over for a casual Halloween night and we had a great time playing Jenga and Jackbox games. I already shared a Reel showing how I made these iconic How I Met Your Mother costumes but I’ll be sharing a full blog post soon as well.

Friday, November 1

After staying up way too late every night this week working on the costumes, I needed today to recover and just stayed home all day in cozy clothes (thankfully I didn’t have any meetings at work).

Saturday, November 2

The big day—finally getting my ears pierced! I did a lot of research into a location and landed on Iris Studios in Boulder. For the most part, I had a really good experience there. The staff seemed super knowledgeable and were really excited for me to get my first piercings. I wanted to go to a piercing studio, not a tattoo parlor, because I knew the sound of buzzing would freak me out—and that was definitely the right decision! The anticipation ended up being the worst part but like I said, the needle itself only pinched for a second.

We met up with some of my other family after the piercings for a night at Top Golf, which was really fun (and why I chose to wear relatively flats booties, even though they’re kind of an awkward height with these jeans).

Sweater: Gift, last worn here | Jeans: Express, $40 ($0.51 per wear), last worn here | Booties: Shop LC, gifted for collaboration, $80 ($2.42 per wear), last worn here

Sunday, November 3

I allowed myself to rest and be lazy today after a very busy week, which was much needed. This tie-dye set is from American Eagle and is perfect for lounging around the apartment on chilly Sundays.

Sweatshirt: American Eagle, $18 ($0.67 per wear) | Sweatpants: American Eagle, $16 ($1.33 per wear)

. . . . .

Hope you had a fun and safe Halloween!

Miles of smiles,
Grace
