Weekly Recap #34, 2024

This week’s recap is all about business casual outfits! Even though my office is super lax about attire, I’ve been feeling inspired lately by Jill Murphy on TikTok, who posts her professional OOTDs in a compilation video every week. With the summer and hotter temperatures, I’ve been dressing more casually than usual, so I decided to challenge myself to style some of my more professional pieces this week.

Monday, August 19

Even though I’m dressing nicer this week, I knew my Clara Sunwoo pieces would make for the perfect comfy (yet professional) work-from-home outfit. These joggers are some of my favorite because they feel like pajamas but look more like trousers. I also decided to try a new hairstyle today that I saw on TikTok (tutorial here)—I think it turned out really well, but I’m still torn on whether it seems “too big” for work.

Fun fact: I wore this outfit in the first Reel I ever made. I was originally planning on wearing yellow heels today for a pop of color, but once I got to the door, I decided to go back for flats… just wasn’t in the mood. I do think this outfit would look better with heels. I’m also now realizing, looking back at this picture, that I think tucking the sweater into the skirt would have helped elongate my legs, even with the flat shoes.

Polka Dot Sweater: DR2 by Daniel Rainn, gifted for collaboration, last worn here | Leather Skirt: Scout and Molly Boutique, $105 ($5.53 per wear), last worn here | Black Flats: Rothy’s, $100 ($4.35 per wear)

Wednesday, August 21

I’ve worn this outfit a couple of times before and just love it! The beautiful color of the blouse and velvet shoes doesn’t really show up on camera, though. I also added a matching burgundy statement bracelet, which I think was the perfect accessory to pull the whole outfit together.

off white blouse lace h&m grey windowpane trousers thrifted vivaia heels

Thursday, August 22

This is another business casual look that I’ve worn before. I thrifted these pants, and while they were originally too big, they fit me absolutely perfectly now—I think they’re so chic. And this vintage-inspired blouse is one of my favorite pieces in my closet. It paired perfectly with my off-white Vivaia heels and an off-white pearl bracelet.

Blouse: H&M, $30 ($2.31 per wear), last worn here | Trousers: Thrifted, $5 ($0.63 per wear) | Heels: Vivaia, gifted for collaboration, $145 ($20.71 per wear), last worn here

black tweed dress collared dress macys business casual white mules

Friday, August 23

I knew I wanted something a little comfier for work-from-home today, so I opted for this black tweed dress! I also threw on a vintage collar clip for just the right amount of sparkle. I tried the bun again from Monday, this time including my bangs and trying to make it smaller—instead it just ended up even bigger! I feel like I’m rocking a beehive or going to a gala, so I definitely will stick to the original tutorial next time instead of going off script…

My boyfriend and I attended Denver Brunch Fest today! I ended up wearing this floral romper, which was the most voted for look in my Reel/TikTok. All of the food at Brunch Fest was really good, but there are definitely some things I wish I had known that would have made it more enjoyable (sharing a roundup of things I would do differently next year in this Instagram post).

Today was all about eating because after Brunch Fest, my boyfriend and I met up with my brother, sister-in-law, and my aunt’s family to celebrate my uncle’s birthday at his favorite Mexican restaurant. Such a fun day!

I somehow slept in so late today and pretty much woke up just in time for our round of golf. I have three golf dresses that I rotate through, and today it was this green and blue one’s turn.

. . . . .

Which of this week’s business casual outfits is your favorite?
