Nothing screams summer like concerts and road trips. Even with a busy work schedule, I managed to squeeze both in this week—a Styx show on Tuesday and a road trip home to Boise on Saturday. I’ve been cleaning out my apartment over the last couple of months and realized I have some stuff I’m not ready to get rid of yet, but that I don’t have room for in my tiny apartment anymore. I figured it was the perfect excuse to visit my parents in Boise (it’s the best in the summer!) and store a couple of items in my childhood bedroom while I’m at it.

I had a busy work from home day and toured an apartment for my brother and sister-in-law in the afternoon. This red and white printed western top was a hand-me-down from my mom, and I thought it would look cute with a denim skirt. I love how this outfit came together (could even be paired with cowgirl boots to really lean into the western look) but I wish I had saved it for the 4th of July! Would have been a fun and festive outfit for the holiday.

I didn’t feel like trying very hard with today’s outfit, so I reached for one of my go-to summer looks, this black mock-neck top and a red and off-white printed skirt. I’ve worn this combo so many times over the years, and it never fails as a cute yet comfy throw-on-and-go look.

I rushed home from work to change and head back downtown with my boyfriend for the Styx and Foreigner concert! I got him tickets for Christmas—he’s not much of a music guy but loves Styx, always singing one of their songs when we go to karaoke. I was so impressed that the 70s/80s band still sounds as good as they do—it was like listening to the radio!
I’m not usually one to be indecisive about what to wear, but I really struggled with today’s concert look. I decided on this beaded crochet top that was a hand-me-down from my mom’s cousin, paired with some new denim shorts. I guess it’s cute, but I wasn’t loving the photos we tried to take outside of the venue… I just wasn’t feeling myself/very confident today.

Today’s outfit is very similar to yesterday’s work ‘fit—the exact same top in teal paired with another patterned skirt. I always get compliments on this striped Cabi skirt and think it’s so unique. Normally I would pair this outfit with sandals, but I decided to style it with printed sneakers from UIN Footwear today instead.

I worked from home today, which I don’t usually do on Thursdays, so I could get a lot done before my trip to Boise. I just stayed in lounge clothes since I didn’t have any meetings.

I had another extremely productive day (how can I channel that energy every day?!) and then toured another apartment in the afternoon. I love my current apartment and have no plans to move, but I do enjoy seeing what else is out there! I just threw on this heart print dress for something simple.

I woke up bright and early to start my 12-hour drive to Boise. I’ve done the drive before while moving in/out of college, but I always had my dad caravaning in the car in front of me. I didn’t think it would feel any different doing the drive entirely by myself, but turns out having a companion even just for the stops does make a difference! It was a very long day, but I was so excited to make it home for a yummy dinner on the porch with my parents. My car was FULL!

Sunday, June 30
We had family breakfast this morning—an old Sunday tradition—before I started cleaning my brother’s bedroom, which I had offered to do. It had become a sort of dumping ground/storage unit over the years as three 20-somethings moved in and out of the house several times. To say it was a disaster is an understatement.
In the evening, I changed into something presentable to head to our family friends’ house for dinner. They recently returned from a trip to Spain, so we ate several courses of traditional pinchos throughout the night! So delicious.
