Weekly Recap #15, 2024

All of the trees started blooming this week, and it’s been so pretty out! Of course, that means lots more sneezing than usual, but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make for that wonderful spring smell. While I always thought fall was my favorite season, I’m beginning to think maybe spring is instead—nothing puts me in a better mood than that first warm day after a dark and cold winter. And, unlike fall, it only gets better after spring… It’s true, I’ve become somewhat of a winter hater! I’m too young to dislike the snow this much already.

My workday was a little disjointed, as I had an appointment at the dealership this morning for someone to show me all the fancy doodads of my new car (I was worried it would be an upsell tactic but the meeting was actually really helpful) and then of course had to step out to catch the eclipse. I wasn’t in the mood to wear a skirt or dress but still wanted to look springy, so this is what I came up with. Normally I would pair sandals with an outfit like this but wasn’t loving any of my options. I think the denim flats turned out super cute to perfectly match the jacket!

I’ve had to do laundry for at least a week, so today’s outfit was the result of a game of “what’s still available in my closet.” It’s cute, just much more of a fall look than a spring one!

Top: JCPenney, $11 ($0.27 per wear), last worn here | Utility Jacket: Nordstrom Rack, $30 ($0.30 per wear), last worn here | Skinny Jeans: Express, $42 ($0.53 per wear), last worn here | Cowgirl Boots: Ariat via Boot Barn, gift, $180 ($12 per wear), last worn here

Today’s outfit is kind of boring. I was wearing a different necklace when I left for work but it broke only an hour into the morning, spilling beads all over my desk area! I’m stilling missing three of them, but I think I’ll be able to fix the necklace and hide the missing pieces of the pattern in the back, near the clasp. Even though you can’t tell in this photo, my flats are a maroon velvet, some of my favorites.

Sweater: Clara Sunwoo, gifted by brand, $149 ($16.56 per wear), last worn here | Cropped Flared Jeans: Express, $25 ($0.54 per wear), last worn here | Velvet Flats: Sundance Outlet, $60 ($4.29 per wear), last worn here

Today was just one of those days where everything seemed to be going wrong—but hey, at least my outfit was fabulous! This lace blouse might be my favorite in my closet, even though I don’t wear it that often. It has old fashioned buttons down the back too. I loved it paired with these thrifted windowpane trousers for a chic work outfit.

Blouse: H&M, $30 ($2.50 per wear), last worn here | Windowpane Trousers: Thrifted, $5 ($0.71 per wear) | Heels: Vivaia, gifted for collaboration, $145 ($24.17 per wear), last worn here

Friday, April 12

It was a gorgeous spring day so after work my boyfriend and I played tennis for the first time this season. I bought this pink houndstooth golf/tennis dress last summer and have worn it golfing before, but this was the first time I wore it for tennis. While very cute, the shorts underneath kept riding up! So I can’t say it was the comfiest outfit ever… Would highly recommend it for golfing, though.

Saturday, April 13

I spent the day taking blog photos and filming Reels/TikToks for the upcoming week, so I never ended up settling into one outfit for the day. I spent the night in working on my college scrapbook—it’s been so great having no plans for two weekends in a row!

Sunday, April 14

It was 80 degrees today and felt like summer! My girlfriends and I had a picnic in Wash Park, and it was absolutely packed with runners, volleyball players, dogs and walkers, etc. I used to wear this Panama hat all the time on road trips in high school, but according to my cost per wear spreadsheet, I haven’t worn it in three years! It’s so cute, but now that I work I find that I rarely wear any of my hats anymore. This one is great for vacations and exploring new cities, but I still haven’t been willing to try plane travel with a brimmed hat. Today’s picnic was the perfect excuse to finally break it out again.

Tee: Old Navy, $8 ($4.00 per wear) | Denim Shorts: Target, $18 ($0.60 per wear), last worn here | Brown Sandals: DSW, $19 ($0.22 per wear), last worn here | Panama Hat: Nordstrom Rack, $21 ($1.40 per wear), last worn here

Which of this week’s outfits is your favorite? Sunday’s is definitely mine! It got me excited for summer fashion and breaking out more of my dresses.

Miles of smiles,

Grace

  1. I wore shorts this afternoon. Next week is supposed to be warm so probably no layers for me. I am loving your hat and your last outfit!

    1. Thanks Mireille!!

  2. I can relate to the hat struggle, somehow they don’t seem professional at all. Let’s hope for hats becoming a trend in the future! You created a lot of cute outfits, Monday is my favorite because of the pastel colors.

    1. Thank you, Frieda! Sometimes people wear beanies to work, but since I grew up wearing a uniform and then a dress code, hats have always been a big no-no.

  3. Great recap and outfits! I’m loving all the spring blossom and signs of spring right now in the UK.
