Another week with so few plans that I didn’t have a cover photo to share! Instead, I’m reposting this Vivienne Westwood-inspired outfit that I wore around this time last year. I styled this blazer this week so now you can see two different ways I’ve worn it. Instead of my usual OOTDs, I challenged myself to recreate Pinterest outfits this week and had so much fun putting them together. It really helped me get out of the style rut I’ve been in lately.

I woke up to a couple of inches of snow and subzero temperatures, so I decided to reschedule the laser hair appointment I had in the afternoon—instead I just stayed home most of my day off, making a few Reels (one of which has gone viral) and going to the gym. I tried a new Mongolian beef recipe in my crockpot and it turned out delish!
As for the outfit, I love how this casual look came together—I think the crop and fully buttoned look of the cardigan makes it a lot more flattering on me. It was also so fun being able to recreate this outfit *almost* perfectly with the things already in my closet!

It was a very busy day at work, and because a lot of my coworkers’ children’s schools were cancelled due to the cold/snow, I opted to work from home, too. This outfit is kind of extra for just working around my apartment, but I’ve been finding it a lot more difficult to find inspo pics than I would have thought! There are a lot that are really cute and re-creatable but not appropriate for work and a lot that are appropriate for work that I don’t have the pieces to recreate…
Anyway, today’s outfit is a much more professional version of my inspiration pic, since I didn’t have a white tee or sneakers, but you can see how I still drew inspiration from the colors and silhouettes. I tried on a couple of blazers but ultimately decided on this secondhand pinstripe one because it’s the most oversized one I own (and the pinstripes are at least more similar to the plaid than a solid colored blazer). Not sure I love the ‘fit, but it was fun to try either way.

It was another busy day at work, and my coworker and I were in charge of throwing our company New Year’s party in the afternoon. We showed up early to the bar to set up, and it turned out it was closed due to a burst pipe! Thank goodness my coworker had the idea to go just across the street to Union Station, and it all worked out in the end—but stressful nonetheless.
I really like how today’s outfit recreation turned out. The blazer is a slightly different vibe than the beige sweater in the inspo pic, but it turned out to be such a stylish work ‘fit. This button down is one of my favorites because it has pinstripes and polka dots all in one.
Inspo Pic | Pinstripe Blouse: JCPenney, $20 ($1.05 per wear), last worn here | Brown Blazer: Clara Sunwoo, gifted by brand, $215 ($215 per wear) | Black Pants: Clara Sunwoo, gifted by brand, $109 ($27.25 per wear), last worn here | Beige Flats: Nordstrom Rack, $40 ($0.71 per wear), last worn here

Today’s look is a loose interpretation of the inspiration, but I drew from the striped sweater, layered collared shirt, and beige heels. To make the outfit a little more modern and trendy, I swapped the skinny pants for cropped flared jeans and used a vintage collar clip instead of the outdated chunky-necklace-under-collar look. It turned out really cute, my only complaint is the crumpled-ness of the collared shirt that you can see underneath the sweater. Also, what are your thoughts—are the beige heels weird with the pure white in the sweater and shirt?
In the evening, my boyfriend and I finally watched Saltburn… Have you seen it yet? It’s so dark and twisted!

It was such a hectic work-from-home day that I never ended up changing out of my workout clothes. After dinner my boyfriend and I finally finished watching “Succession” which was so good!

Saturday, January 20
I spent most of the day in workout clothes before doing a Peloton ride at the gym and rushing to get ready for dinner with my aunt and her family. We did a fun little cocktail hour and then went out to this family-owned Scottish restaurant called Burns Pub—I love going there because it reminds me so much of studying abroad! They even have canned beer from the place that I used to go to pub quiz every Wednesday. They’re supposed to be featured on “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” in a couple of weeks, which is really cool.
I didn’t do an inspiration photo for today’s ‘fit because I was rushing to get ready in time, and it takes a surprisingly long time to find a good inspo pic on Pinterest… it has to be something I like and something I can recreate with items already in my closet (I haven’t done laundry in forever either, which limited my options even more).

Sunday, January 21
I have to admit that I spent the whole day in my robe just crossing off to-do list items around the apartment. I’m so bad at getting dressed on Sundays!

Which of this week’s outfit recreations is your favorite? It was really fun doing one of these and it makes me want to do posts like this more often.
Miles of smiles,
Grace
