This week I ate slept breathed PARTY!!! Saturday was the big night where I threw my aunt an 80s-themed 50th birthday bash, complete with a Pacman photobooth, snacks that were released in the 80s, trivia, dancing, and of course, a rocking playlist. Every spare second this week was spent making decorations and prepping for the big day, and it did not disappoint. It turned out to be everything I hoped for and more!

Since I was busy party planning the whole week, I didn’t invest much effort into my outfits. This is the same look I wore on Sunday because it was still piled up on the floor of my bedroom…

I have no idea what to do about these pants. I received them as part of a brand collaboration last spring and love how they paired with this navy halter top. But they’re essentially leggings—ponte knit, pull-on elastic waist, and a seam down the crotch that could get a little dicey, if you know what I mean…

I think they would be great with the right tunic or a shirt that’s longer in the back, but I don’t own anything like that. I was sick of not wearing the pants and decided to style them with a simple sweater and flats (I thought the navy and pink would look cute together). But instead of feeling stylish, I was self-conscious all day, worried that my butt had gobbled up the pants and way too much was on display at work. They’re really comfortable and I still think the style is cute, but I have no idea how or where to wear them! It would be different if they were black, but something about the navy leaves nothing to the imagination.

I had lots of meetings today, and then we hit up our original trivia spot again, this time securing fourth place (no prize but not bad). I first wore this outfit during my conference in Indianapolis in October and liked it so much that I decided to style it again today. My red Rothy’s are super comfortable, and I actually noticed they’re having a sale right now on this pair! I’m tempted to get another color (they’re expensive but so worth it).

Another plain outfit but I decided to throw on these fluffy sneakers to spice it up a little bit. Remember when the pom pom sneakers were all the rage several years ago? I thrifted this pair long after the craze already came and went, but I always get compliments whenever I wear these shoes.

After work it was a very busy day of party planning—going to the grocery store for snacks, finishing up all the decorations, and packing everything up, since the party was at my aunt’s house. After filling the car, you would have thought I was moving with all the stuff in there!

Saturday, December 9

The big day! I woke up early, picked up the cake, and then made my way to my aunt’s house for set-up. My boyfriend and I got there around 11:00 am and were busy right up until the party started at 7:00 pm, if you can believe it. Set-up always takes so long, and I was really glad I got there when I did!

The party was such a blast, and I plan on sharing more pics and details about the decorations in a blog post. But for now, this is what I decided on wearing. It was very last-minute since I was spending all my mental capacity on the party planning itself, but I still think it turned out very 80s! I thrifted this Betsey Johnson dress during Covid for $1 and have never worn it. It’s so ridiculous, but since it was only a buck I just couldn’t resist. Finally, the perfect occasion for it came along! I layered on some necklaces (including pearls), put on colorful pumps, and wore not one—but two—hot pink belts. The pink bow headband, neon fingerless gloves, and legwarmers were all part of an accessory set on Amazon. I topped the look off with big crimped hair, hot pink lipstick, and an explosion of colorful eye shadow!

. . . . .

Sunday, December 10

I stayed the night at my aunt’s, and after sleeping in as much as I could, I spent most of the day cleaning up her house—and then cleaning up my own apartment (it was a bit of a mess after a week of crafting). I just wore lounge clothes and was basically a zombie after such a late night, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I went to bed feeling very satisfied with the whole shebang!!

. . . . .

Not very many interesting outfits this week so I will try to step it up the next couple of days. I’m thinking I should do a week of recreating Pinterest outfits soon—a lot of my looks have been boring lately even though I have so many fun clothes. Anyway, thanks for stopping by the blog, and I hope you have a great rest of your day.

Miles of smiles,

Grace
