My boyfriend and I finished watching “The Fall of the House of Usher” this week—have you seen it yet? I’ve been watching a lot of spooky shows and movies lately but I really think I need to lay off them… I went on a walk tonight and it was the third time in a week and a half that I jumped and gasped at a stranger turning a corner. It’s bad… and embarrassing… but also amusing.

I tried taking blog pics today (hence the crimped hair) and then threw on these grey jeans and the knit tank I wore last week. I never do my hair unless I have some sort of event or am taking photos, but I love how my hair looks crimped… and unlike when I curl it, crimping it last for days! Makes me think I should start investing more time on my hair after all.

Fun fact: This is the outfit I wore on my first day of work! I still really like it, but since I’ve been cleaning out my closet (part 1 and part 2), I finally realized that this cardigan is too small for me. Duh, I’ve had it since the fifth grade! The sleeves are supposed to be 3/4 length, but instead they stop at my elbows.

I absolutely lovvve today’s outfit—not sure what inspired this new combo but I felt so stylish in it. These snakeskin studded heels are faux Valentino Rockstuds (an $1190 pair of shoes) and I got these knock-offs on sale for less than $50. I don’t wear them that often, since they’re a little out there, but they’re definitely my favorite pair of shoes!
It’s been so many weeks since my boyfriend and I went to our usual bar for Wednesday night trivia. We’ve been wanting to try a different place for a while so we figured now was the perfect time to cheat, in case we end up liking this new place better. It had a lot of great pros compared to the original trivia but also some cons, so I think we’re going to try it a few more times before deciding on a place.

I hurried home from work to make it to a nearby park in time to catch the sunset and put together a fall picnic for my boyfriend and me (an annual tradition now). I love putting together charcuterie boards, and this one did not disappoint!

I just worked from home today and made shredded chicken tacos in my crockpot for dinner. My boyfriend and I watched the movie Gerald’s Game on Netflix in the evening (directed by the same guy as “Fall of the House of Usher” and “Haunting of Hill House”) and I absolutely loved it. Highly recommend if you’re into dark, psychological thrillers.

I bought discounted tickets to the local amusement park, Elitch Gardens, early in the summer, and with all the rain we got my boyfriend and I never got around to going. Thankfully our tickets still applied to their Fright Fest event in October, so we finally went today! I really struggled with choosing an outfit (it was a warm fall day, and what do you wear when you’re going to be whisked all around and upside down??) but I like the cute fall outfit I threw together.
What I don’t like is roller coasters. I absolutely hate that stomach-in-your-mouth feeling that comes with long drops. I’ve never really liked rides that much but admittedly haven’t ridden that many, so I decided to give them another try… I think it’s finally safe to say I just don’t like roller coasters and never will. No need to return to Elitch’s.
I decided to try a new hairstyle today—sort of like bubble braids but pulling the hair through each time. It turned out very cute (and secure for the roller coasters), but I don’t think it looks different enough from regular French braids to warrant how much longer they took to do.

I spent the day reorganizing my jewelry drawer and a few other cabinets before going on a nice fall walk through the neighborhood. I took extra care to stomp through the crunchy leaves where possible.

Which of this week’s outfits is your favorite? It’s still been very warm here in Denver, so I haven’t broken into the sweaters too much yet. But I’m sure the temps will drop very soon and winter will be here before I know it (kind of dreading it, if I’m honest). I think I’m ready to move to a place where it doesn’t snow, like Arizona or Florida, butttt I’m too young for that.
Miles of smiles,
Grace
