I guess I wasn’t thinking last week when I thought the 52nd weekly recap would be the last one of 2021, but here is the *truly* final week-in-review, featuring my last few outfits of the year, my first look of 2022, and a few hockey games. It was a surprisingly busy few days (my last full week in the States!), but I had so much fun spending the bulk of my time playing games and hanging out with extended family.

Monday, December 27
I spent my last day at home running around like a madwoman, knocking off almost every item from my to-do list (including a blog post, laundry, packing, writing thank you notes, and putting away all my Christmas decorations). While I didn’t really get dressed today, I did throw on my travel outfit for Scotland in order to snap a few photos for Monday’s packing post.

Tuesday, December 28
My parents and I spent the day driving to Las Vegas, and while the snow on the road was supposed to be bad, the drive thankfully wasn’t too stressful. We met up with my brother, future sister-in-law, and grandpa (who all flew to Vegas on Sunday) for dinner, before a handful of us spent the night hot-tubbing. I’ve worn this outfit countless times on the blog, but it’s not very cute without a long pendant necklace or other accessories (my outfits were very lacking this week because my favorite jewelry pieces are already packed for Scotland).

Wednesday, December 29
I spent the morning with a friend who was in town and made it home just in time for an afternoon of Euchre with the family. We ordered take-out for dinner and lounged in the hot tub again for our last night altogether. This is another outfit I’ve worn a handful of times before, and I’ve always thought it was really cute… but now I’m wondering if the navy in the vest clashes with the purple sweater? Sometimes I have a hard time identifying whether colors actually go together or not.

Thursday, December 30
My parents dropped off my brother and his soon-to-be wifey at the airport as my grandpa and I went into his office at 4 a.m. I spent most of the morning working on my thesis before my parents, my grandpa, and I went to breakfast. Afterwards, I swung by my aunt’s house to meet my cousin’s new baby, which was so exciting! In the afternoon, I snapped these photos for Thursday’s blog post while on a walk around the neighborhood. I thought this outfit was really cute and almost streetstyle chic, but I am wondering if my shirt is too small/short (or am I just used to the oversized collared shirts that are so trendy right now?).

Friday, December 31
We started the holiday off right by going to my uncle’s country club for breakfast, which included sipping on mimosas. Later, my aunt had some spare tickets to the Vegas Golden Knights hockey game, so my dad and I went downtown together to watch it. It was very exciting (with lots of fights!), and we had a great time. After dinner, I went over to my aunt’s house to hang out with my older cousins, and we rang in the new year by staying up late playing Mexican Trains.
I’ve never paired this vest with this sweater before, but I saw the two next to each other on my bedroom floor while I was packing and realized it was the perfect combo. I love the pattern mixing! These pieces work well together because both the vest and the sweater have the same color scheme (navy and white) and the scales/sizes of the patterns are very different.

Saturday, January 1
Welcome to 2022, baby! I spent the night at my aunt’s house, so we all had a big family breakfast this morning before my parents picked me up. The three of us decided to go for a walk around my grandpa’s neighborhood to get in our quintessential new year’s exercise. Since I didn’t go out on New Year’s Eve (too expensive and too many people), my cousin and I decided to head to the Container Park and Fremont Street tonight instead. There were hardly any people out, which I found very surprising for a Saturday night in Las Vegas… but we came to the conclusion that everybody must have been so hungover from the night before that they didn’t want to drink again. We decided to do a few slot machines (for about 10 minutes) and I made $25! Very exciting—I left while I was ahead.

Sunday, January 2
I slept over at my cousin’s house the night before, so this morning, we went to my aunt’s house for another family breakfast and card games. In the afternoon, I somehow got invited again to a Golden Knights hockey game! I thought Friday’s game was exciting, but it didn’t even compare to today’s… The Knights were down 3-4 and then scored with only eight seconds left to tie the game. Sadly, we lost in overtime, but it was still so fun to watch.
How did you spend your New Year’s Eve, and how have you been ringing in 2022? I’d love to hear what you did (and wore!) in the comments below.
Miles of smiles,
Grace
