Y’all know I’m all about versatility and rewearing items when it comes to fashion, so today I wanted to showcase two ways to wear the same basic outfit—a grey sweater and a black corduroy skirt. While I do repeat outfits sometimes, I love trying to wear a new combo every day. Emphasis on the word combo. Wearing a new look daily doesn’t have to mean constantly buying new clothes… It just means getting creative with what you already have! And that’s what I love so much about fashion.

I started this lil’ ‘seeing double’ blog post series back in August, so you can see the first two posts from the summer and fall below:
Same Outfit, Different Accessories

I chose this grey sweater and black skirt for the focus of today’s post because these pieces are SO simple and versatile—I bet most of us have some variation of them in our closets! For the first look, I kept things easy with just the sweater and skirt but added sassy fishnet tights for a little somethin’ somethin’. Usually I hold this purse in my hand, but I’m loving the look of it as a crossbody with this outfit. I also tried something kind of different with my hair—a middle part (because everyone and their mother is saying how side parts are dead) and a low bun. It looks cute with the sunglasses but I’m not sure I love the hairstyle as much with the second outfit.

For the second look, I piled on all the accessories—a black pleather jacket, plaid blanket scarf, and knee socks. I have to admit, this outfit seemed a lot cuter in my mirror when I was trying it on… Once I actually wore it out, it felt and looked a lot bulkier than I’d like! It’s still cute and will be worn in the future, but it’s definitely not a ‘wow’ look.

Pretty easy to switch up the same outfit, huh? Just by changing out the necessities like a purse and shoes (and even your hairstyle!), you can mix and match a million different outfits with what you already have in your closet. Okay, so maybe a million is an exaggeration, but I do have a page in my Cost Per Wear spreadsheet solely dedicated to outfits that has over 900 unique combinations… Obviously I haven’t even worn them all yet! In high school I used to sit down in my closet and just brainstorm outfits for hours… Obsessed? Only a little.

Which of these outfits do you like more, the first or second? Also—do you like fishnet tights? Or do you think they’re a little ‘scandalous’ for everyday wear? I can’t decide…
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
