The absolute highlight of this week (perhaps the year?!) was that my brother and sister-in-law moved to Denver!!! I am beyond excited to have them just a 20 minute drive away and can’t wait for all the fun we’ll get up to. I was doing some calculations and think it’s been almost a decade since my brother and I have lived in the same city… hard to believe, even harder to believe that I’m old enough to say a decade. I couldn’t focus on much else this week as I was just full of anticipation for move-in day!

I was feeling tired this morning so I didn’t have a very productive day (nor could I come up with a more creative outfit!). I just threw on this plain black tank dress and a couple of necklaces in a lame attempt to make the look more interesting.

I got to work off-site today in one of our client’s labs, which was a really fun change of pace. It meant I had to wear close-toed shoes, though, so I built my outfit around these sneakers from UIN Footwear. I was tempted to wear my grey fluffy sneakers instead but wasn’t sure what the vibe of the lab was and didn’t want to draw too much attention to myself… My dad arrived in town today for a brief visit so I got to grab dinner with him and catch up.

Wednesday, July 24

I almost always go into the office on Wednesdays for staff meeting, but I decided to work from home today so I could grab lunch with my dad and take him to the airport. And working from home meant… wearing shorts! These are those cargo shorts that I recently rediscovered in my donate pile and decided to keep. This outfit really reminds me of my OG blogging days—I think I wore something very similar in one my first blog posts back in 2016! Hard to believe it’s been eight years. Normally I would wear sandals with an outfit like this but I left these sneakers out yesterday and thought they would be cute (plus—trying to get the cost per wear down).

This is one of my go-to business casual outfits that takes no thought to put together, though I have to admit that the pants seem to get snugger and snugger each time I wear them… might have to retire them soon. I still haven’t washed my dusty red Rothy’s after wearing them to the 1940s ball, but I’m kind of nervous to throw them in the washer for the first time! I know they’re machine washable, but I don’t know… I would be so upset if I ruined them.

After working from home I got a much-needed haircut (I go to She Loves Hair Salon) and then did a little shopping at TJ Maxx—I was hoping to find something fun for my upcoming cruise to Mexico but ended up with just a swim coverup and a sweater. As for today’s outfit, this is a new combo and I love how it turned out!

My boyfriend and I had a little date night before heading to a friend’s apartment for a game night with two other couples. I knew I wanted something cute for dinner but also something comfy enough to lounge on the floor if needed, hence how I landed on these pants. I’ve never paired this top with the pants before, but I think I really liked how the outfit turned out—definitely different for me but in a fun way.

Sunday, July 28

Move-in day!! I just wore athletic clothes because I knew I’d be doing lots of runs up and down the stairs (in 90-degree weather, no less). We unloaded the 20ft U-Haul in record time—only 45 minutes with seven people!—and then had a great time arranging furniture, starting to unpack, and snacking on guac and margaritas. Such a fun day.
