Weekly Recap #8, 2024

From one trip to another! I got home from Puerto Rico on Tuesday afternoon and had a short three-day turnaround before heading out again to Las Vegas on Saturday. I’ve actually had the Las Vegas tickets for months, way before the trip to Puerto Rico was planned, because Southwest was having a killer sale—figured I’d work remotely for a week to spend time with my grandpa and parents. It was kind of hectic that the two trips ended up being so close together, but it meant going from a week spent with my dad’s family to a week spent with my mom’s, which was really fun.

Monday, February 19

We checked out of our AirBnB in Cabo Rojo this morning and then started our drive back to the east side of the island. We stopped in Ponce along the way, which I had never visited before and really enjoyed—we stumbled into the cutest boutique hotel with the best photo-ops! I just wore the same orange dress I styled on Sunday again because I loved it so much (and had only worn it to dinner—for me, P.R.’s not generally a place I can rewear clothes since it’s so humid/sweaty).

We made another pitstop at our favorite restaurant that serves giant mojitos with a popsicle inside and then went back to my aunt’s house for the afternoon. One final walk along the beach and dinner at the plaza nearby to close out our time in Puerto Rico!

Tuesday, February 20

We got up bright and early to go to the airport and spent most of the day traveling home—no exciting airport karaoke or free drinks this time around. While I won’t wear sweatpants, I don’t generally put any effort into my airport outfits and just wear what makes most sense for the space in my suitcase, hence my bulky hiking shoes.

Wednesday, February 21

I was absolutely dreading going back to work today but thankfully it wasn’t as bad as I expected. I even rallied for trivia in the evening, even though I was very tired and had a ton to catch up on. I’ve worn a variation of this outfit before and think it’s very cute for springtime.

Thursday, February 22

I decided to try these pants with flats for once, and while not terrible, I do think they look better with a small heel. I spent today still catching up on work and emails I missed while I was gone. It’s funny, last year when I went to Puerto Rico, when I was still fairly new at the company, I came back to only three missed emails. This year it took me two days to get through all the Teams messages and emails I missed! Clearly I’m a lot more integrated into projects now than I was last year, which is great.

Friday, February 23

I knew I wanted to go for a walk today so I just ended up wearing athletic clothes all day. My boyfriend and I watched Past Lives in the evening, another Oscar nominee, which we enjoyed but didn’t think was spectacular.

Saturday, February 24

I flew to Las Vegas in the afternoon and once there went to a UNLV basketball game and dinner with my mom and uncle. I packed pretty light and actually wore a cute airport outfit for once, rocking my Rothy’s flats since they’re comfy enough to wear walking around the airport. I threw on a long grey cardigan for the plane (not sure why I didn’t picture it here).

Sunday, February 25

We went to breakfast this morning at one of my grandpa’s favorite diners that I’ve been going to since I was little. The rest of the day we just kind of hung out and went for a drive in the afternoon (and got ice cream, of course).
