Weekly Recap #1, 2024

One week into the new year already! I’m still in the phase of mistakenly entering 2023 into my “Date Last Worn” column in my cost per wear spreadsheet. How are your goals/resolutions going so far? Sticking to them? Considering I haven’t even brainstormed or written mine out yet, I’d say I’m getting a late start to the new year… but what’s new? I was really good about being active this week at least, so I’m proud of that!

Monday, January 1

Boy, Monday already feels like forever ago. I started the year checking out of a hotel in downtown Denver, not hungover thankfully but very sleepy from the late night before. I always love to get a walk in on the first of the new year and kept up with the tradition again in 2024. I just stayed in sweatpants and a t-shirt all day, so no cute outfit to share!

Tuesday, January 2

Boy, was it tough getting my butt to work this morning after a week and a half off! Thankfully I was able to ease into things a bit and felt very cute in this plain yet stylish outfit. My flats are actually a maroon velvet with embroidered flowers on the strap, but they always look black in pics.

After work I went to the gym and got a run in, as well as an arm workout. I hate lifting weights but really need to start in 2024—my arms are embarrassingly weak.

Wednesday, January 3

I ended up working from home today, which is unusual for me on a Wednesday, but I was still struggling to regain the motivation for working life. I’ve worn this blue sweater and pinstripe pants combo before but added a new whale brooch this time that I got for Christmas. We had to shake off some dust from our brains but had a great time at trivia in the evening, per usual.

Thursday, January 4

This outfit gives me cute grandpa vibes. I don’t think I’ve layered a button-down under this cardigan before, but I liked the combo for a chillier day. My black Rothy’s that I got for my birthday were the perfect way to finish the outfit. After dinner tonight I got the sudden urge to make chocolate chip cookies, but instead of chocolate chips I made use of leftover Halloween candy (Snickers, 3 Muskateers, and Milky Way). They turned out really yummy!

Friday, January 5

Kept things casual for today’s work-from-home ‘fit but added these fluffy Steve Madden sneakers to spice up the look. I went on a long walk in the afternoon and then enjoyed a quiet night in with my boyfriend watching “Succession”.

Saturday, January 6

I slept in and then had a planning session with my mom over Skype to show her how I like to use my planner. It was really fun and I think we’ll work on them together again soon! Otherwise, I went for a run and stayed in my athletic clothes the rest of the day.

Sunday, January 7

Another day of not really getting dressed, sheesh! I tried to be really productive today, working on various blogging and household tasks. I also took blog photos for the first time with my new phone and am really happy with how they turned out (cover photo for today’s post is a sneak peek).

. . . . .

Which of this week’s outfits is your favorite? I’m feeling excited for the new year but also like I wish I had my shit together already. I was rereading my 2023 goals and planning blog post a couple of days ago, and in that post I talked about how I liked spending time in January to reflect and plan for the new year instead of trying to figure it all out at the end of December. That’s not really how I’m feeling right now… but it’s a nice perspective to keep in mind.

Miles of smiles,

Grace
