What a month it’s been! Although I suppose the more accurate statement would be, “What a year it’s been,” since I’ve probably said those same words about every month of 2022 so far. I returned from an amazing study abroad experience in Scotland the first week of May, attended my brother’s wedding in Las Vegas, took an apartment-hunting trip to Denver, and am currently in Boston visiting a friend. The hecticness hasn’t ended quite yet, as I’ll be moving back to Denver in a few weeks and attending my graduation, but then I will finally be able to settle down into my new job and life in Denver. So many exciting things still on the horizon! While this outfit is more fit for fall than summer, it was a go-to in Glasgow and a look I photographed right before leaving. Finally getting around to sharing it today.
What’s New?
- As I mentioned, I’ll be moving back to Denver in the middle of June. I am still trying to find a suitable (i.e. affordable) apartment, but my aunt and her family are gracious enough to let me stay with them awhile this summer until I find a place of my own.
- I start my first big girl job the last week of June! I interviewed and was offered the position while still in Scotland, and I’m so excited (and relieved) to have something set up already for post-grad life. I won’t be sharing very much on the blog about the position, but I will say that I’ll be doing research for a nonprofit in Denver. The job is a hybrid format, although I’m excited to work in-person as much as possible (already planning several workwear outfits, obviously).
- I am now completely done with my undergraduate education, which is crazy! I defended my thesis earlier in the month and submitted my revisions last week. I’m still waiting on a few grades from my semester abroad, but as far as work goes, I’m alllll done. It’s been such an unusual ending to my undergraduate career that it really hasn’t set in yet. Celebrating graduation with my family will be the perfect closure.

What I Watched + Listened To
- “The Anatomy of a Scandal”—I watched this show just like everybody and their sister did when it was first released on Netflix. I found it entertaining and binged it quickly, but I had a major problem with the plot—and if you’ve seen the show already, you can probably guess what that problem is…
- Promising Young Woman—One of three movies I watched on the 11-hour flight back to the States from abroad. Did I like this movie? I don’t think so. But was it a great movie? Yes. It was really unique and dark in such a way that made me feel extremely uncomfortable while watching it—which is hard to do, considering I lovvve macabre things. I highly recommend it and think you should watch it without knowing anything about the premise (that’s what I did!).
- Dear Evan Hansen—Another movie I watched on the plane, and yes, I cried in public while watching it. I didn’t love this film just because it made me really sad, but I thought the singers were all very talented. I do wish a few of the songs had more lyrics, though (lots of repeating).
- Crazy Rich Asians—I thought this was a fun, although predictable, movie. I loved seeing all the extravagance and of course, all the fancy outfits!
- The Batman—My parents and I agreed that we thought this version (the one with Robert Pattinson) was pretty boring. We also had some questions; for example, why was Robert Pattinson so sweaty all the time? I’m kind of over the Batman story, since they keep remaking it every few years, but I did want to see this version because the last scene through the cemetery (and I believe a few other scenes) was filmed in Glasgow at the Necropolis. It’s exciting to see a place you’ve been on the big screen!
- Worth—This movie starring Michael Keaton and Stanley Tucci was a true story about the compensation fund for victims of 9/11. It was a tearjerker, obviously, but an interesting watch that made me ponder some big moral questions.
- Old—I’ve been wanting to watch this M. Night Shyamalan film since it came out and finally got around to it with my parents. Overall, I thought the premise was super interesting and thought-provoking, but it wasn’t executed well, in my opinion. Bad dialogue and acting, and a few explanations were just a little *too* convenient.
- “Arcane”—This was a weird anime show based off the video game League of Legends that my friend wanted me to watch. It was entertaining enough, but it’s not something I would have picked for myself (and I thought it was pretty cheesy).
- Annnnd here’s my Spotify playlist for this month. If you recall from April’s recap, I started copying my friend by making a monthly playlist on Spotify that acts as a sort of time capsule from that month. May’s playlist has songs from my brother’s wedding, goodbye songs from my departure from Glasgow, and a wholeeee lotta rock songs from the 90s and 2000s, as my dad and I listed to Sirius XM’s “Pop Rocks” channel on all of our road trips this month.

What I’m Looking Forward to in June
- Our family friend’s wedding on Saturday. I loveeee weddings and am so excited I’m able to go to two this summer! Getting dressed up, dancing the night away… What’s not to like?
- Graduation! I don’t really have any big plans, but I’m excited to be on campus one last time. I’m also really happy that my brothers are coming out for it so that I can have a final summer hurrah with my whole family.
- (Hopefully) finding an apartment. I don’t expect I’ll be moving in anywhere this month, but I would be really excited to sign a lease and at least start planning my decorations.
- Starting my job! I’m super nervous but also really looking forward to this next stage of life. I’ve already been brainstorming the perfect ‘first day’ outfit.

I checked my stats and realized that May was my best performing month on the blog ever! I surpassed both my views and visitor records by a lot, so that’s exciting.
